Runner up, Apprentice of the Year - 2003 (Australian Training Awards)

Where is Greig now?
Greig is working in his dream job at Riviera Group doing electrical design.

Since the win in 2003, Greig has completed a Certificate IV in Frontline Management at Gold Coast Institute of TAFE.

Greig has participated in judging panels for the Queensland Training Awards, and continues to promote apprenticeships and traineeships as "a great way to put your learning into practice straight away".

Michael loves his job as Senior Technician for WPS Motor Sports.

Michael is interested in undertaking a Certificate III in Teaching, and plans to move to England in 2007 to pursue his career in motor sports.

Where is Myles now?
Myles is currently working as a mentor and youth worker at Glendyne Education and Training Centre. Myles really enjoys his work, especially encouraging the adolescents he works with to be something someday and point them in the right direction.

Minister's Training Initiative Award - 2001 and 2004

Where is Glendyne Education and Training Centre now?
The centre has significantly grown since the awards with now over 75 students. They have joined together with other regions to initiate similar programs throughout Queensland.

The centre's next major project is to develop a fully functional production workshop - this will allow students to receive training as well as work experience onsite.

What has changed from Alf's Smash Repairs since the awards?
Alf's Smash Repairs' turnover has definitely gone up since 2004 and Alf believes the awards have contributed to that in some way. Alf currently has seven apprentices and two trainees working for him.

"The awards are a two-fold process. The nomination process allows you to benchmark yourself against criteria. The recognition for what you are doing enhances your business."
