How to enter

Eligibility

Please ensure you review the requirements for the award category you wish to enter and check you are eligible.

If you identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, please ensure you tick the box acknowledging this, in order to be considered in this category.

Submission questions

Prepare a written document (a submission) addressing all questions relevant to the category you are entering. To assist you, the Queensland Training Awards website has provided past submission examples and writing tips. This submission will then need to be uploaded online

Your submission should be formatted on A4 size pages in 12 point Arial font.

Submissions for individual student award categories are to be no more than five A4 pages, plus five pages of attachments (no more than 10 pages in total). Any material in excess of 10 pages will not be forwarded to the judging panel.

Submissions for the individual teacher/trainer award category are to be no more than ten A4 pages, plus five pages of attachments (no more than 15 pages in total). Any material in excess of 15 pages will not be forwarded to the judging panel.

Submissions for employer and organisation award categories are to be no more than 20 A4 pages, including attachments. Any material in excess of 20 pages will not be forwarded to the judging panel. Group Training Organisations (GTOs) applying for Employer of the Year are required to submit a response to two additional criteria no longer than one page, totalling 21 pages for an application.

Supporting documentation for individual awards

Provide supporting material such as newspaper articles, photocopies of awards or certificates, letters of support (e.g. a reference from your teacher, principal, employer or customer) or publicity photos of achievements relevant to key aspects of your submission. You are allowed to submit up to five pages of attachments to your application in addition to the written submission (10 pages in total).

No multimedia items or discs will be accepted with nominations.

Identifying your region

For the Queensland Training Awards, the state is divided into seven training regions - Far North Queensland, North Queensland, Central Queensland, Darling Downs South West, North Coast, Metropolitan and South East.

For apprentices, trainees and school-based apprentices or trainees, if you are employed by a Group Training Organisation (GTO), but hosted by another employer, please enter in the region where your GTO is based. If employed directly by an employer, please enter in the region where your employer is located.

For vocational students, enter in the region where you live, or lived at the time of completing of your studies.

For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year applicants, please follow the above directions for your nominated category.

For VET Teacher/Trainer of the Year applicants, your region is where the majority of your teaching will be undertaken between 1 July 2012 and 30 June 2013. Applicants in this category can only nominate in one region.

For businesses and training organisations with one workplace in Queensland, please enter in the region where your business is located.

If you cannot access the internet or need to submit a hard copy submission, please contact the Queensland Training Awards team by calling 1800 660 207. The team will be happy to provide you with a nomination form.

All nominations close on Friday 22 March 2013 at 5 pm.
